Elementary OS Freya will receive a bigger update soon. Think of it something like a service pack for Windows or a point update for Ubuntu. The new update is called Freya Update 1 and increases the version number to elementary OS 0.3.1. Among many bugfixes it will also bring sime nice new features and refinements. Let’s see what new features we know so far:
New “Recent” view in Files
New Language & Region Switchboard plug
New Network plug
The Network plug is also redesigned in Switchboard. It now shows the connection status and more information about the network, such as IP addresses.
New Open File Dialog

Refined battery indicator
*update: this won’t be a part of the update, refined battery indicators will land only in Loki, the next major version of elementary OS.
Battery indicator has been renewed, it now also shows which applications are using lots of power.
The battery icons has been redesigned.
Freya Update 1 is also fixing some important bugs, check the Launchpad page to see the complete list. The release date of this update is unknown, but it will land soon. Before it lands, the team of elementary OS asks you to check whether you can help translating any strings to your language.
