Short News – Ubuntu 15.04 Beta 1, LibeOffice 4.4.1 And More

I got some feedback about this blog that you want more frequent updates. I read Linux news every day and I come accross many little interesting things but I don’t want to create a singe article about most of them. So I thought I’ll start a new short news series about news from Linux world what I don’t want to write an article about, but you still might be interested.

Ubuntu 15.04 Beta 1 Released

Today Canonical released Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet Beta 1. Other Ubuntu flavours’ beta 1 also released: Ubuntu GNOME 15.04, Kubuntu 15.04, Xubuntu 15.04. As of today Ubuntu MATE is an official flavor of the Ubuntu project.

LibreOffice 4.4.1 Released

LibreOffice 4.4.1 is the first minor release of LibreOffice 4.4 “fresh” family, with over 100 fixes over LibreOffice 4.4.0. Read the official announcement here.

NVIDIA 346.47 Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris display driver

NVIDIA released the latest version of it’s display driver. Among many bugfixes it brings support for these new GPUs: Quadro K620M, Quadro K2200M, GeForce GTX 960, GeForce GTX 965M.

Firefox 36 Released

The new version has support for the full HTTP/2 protocol. HTTP/2 enables a faster, more scalable, and more responsive web.

Console OS – Android For Desktop PCs

After a successful Kickstarter campaign Console OS is introduced. Accouring to it’s website it’s ready to be used on a live system, it’s able to dual-boot with Wondows 8.1, can be used with desktop or tablet and some “killer” premium features. Check Console OS’s website for more details.
