Search feature of Pantheon Files is almost ready – screenshot

A long-awaited feature of Pantheon Files in elementary OS is indeed the search feature. So far it was lacking it which made many people complain as this should be a basic feature in a file manager app. Now finally the day has come, the feature has been implemented and already landed in the trunk. It’s been developed by Tom Beckmann and been backed by a $450 bounty.

Here’s a screenshot of the search feature in Pantheon Files (click to enlarge):

As you can see it’s pretty simple, there’s no search button, but the address bar is used (after pressing Ctrl + F). How do you like it? Will you miss the search button or do you like the simplicity of it?

So will it only search in this folder but also on the whole computer, in my browser history, my app contents, probably even the web?

I tried it a couple of days ago on my own build and as far as I’m not mistaken it searches in the current folder and it’s subfolders. So I assume if you’re in the root directory, it’ll search in the whole computer. 🙂
    What’s wrong with Disqus comments?
