After the release of Linux Mint 17 variants, work on Linux Mint 17.1 has begun. This version will stick to the same Ubuntu 14.04 LTS base as the current one. If you’re wondering why this decision was made, Clem highlighted some really interesting points about it in a short interview he gave to me.
It seems that the first thing Mint developers are working on is the Update Manager. They implemented two new features so far:
- Package descriptions no longer show in English but in your own language, and the full description is included.
- The kernel selection page was redesigned, it shows more info about kernels.
